The OriGinAlz [Promo Mix 008]

August 6, 2014
Post Image

Having had the pleasure of catching The Originalz at Northern Nights late last month, I was able to witness how the two synchronically perform as a solid bass breading machine. One of them on a CDJ and the other on a MPD24 controller pad and an MPK mini, together the duo constructs some serious future bass music.

The OriGinALz met at Burning Man back in 2010. Initially you would think the two seemed like an unlikely pair- Troy Prokopowich grew up playing the piano while Michael Rivera drew influences out of his love for hip-hop, but seemingly the two compliment each other.

With the intent of connecting beings through music, together the boys produce a surplus of various bass originals and remixes that tickle your ears with that sweet West Coast future sound.

Download The OriGinALz newest mix from MiL featuring, what else, but tons of originals!

Sex Pixels – Audiowaska Stage – Lucidity Festival 2014 [Promo Mix 006]

April 25, 2014
Post Image

Up for download: Sex Pixels set from Ludicity 2014 so you can relive the magic <3

Reminiscent of their booty-ful set from Lucidity 2013, if you caught San Francisco based Sex Pixels in the act at Audiowaska stage at Lucidity 2014, I’m sure you were not let down.

Playing from sunset to darkness, the boys flirted shamelessly with the crowd , playing sexy, tripped-out grooves  as the sun wiggled it’s way down it’s last visible crevasse. At dark, foreplay was over as they brought in some serious booty bouncing bass, pulling the crowd in to to do one thing- Get down, of course! Audio intimacy at it’s finest- thank you, boys!

The duo had an impressive resume last summer, including playing on the Woogie stage at Lightning in a Bottle in Southern California.

Want more Sex? Catch the boys at EOS Lounge in Santa Barbara as they link back up with Music is Love and The Do Lab for Lightning in a Bottle’s pre-party with An-ten-nae & Slitherhead as the Bay Area invades Santa Barbara May, 16th 2014.

Music is Love – Podcast E007 – feat. Ardalan

April 7, 2014
Post Image

We love surprises, and we’re pretty sure that you do too!

As a special treat to curb those Monday blues, and of course keep you waiting in anticipation for this coming weekend at Lucidtiy Festival, we decided to release our 7th episode of our original podcast series featuring none other than Bay Area resident, Ardalan.

Based out of San Francisco, Ardalan is part of beloved Dirtybird label and family. This past year has been insane for the crew as their popularity has sky-rocketed- not only in the states, but abroad.

In tune with the nature of the Dirtybird players, Ardalan and Music is Love present you with one hell of a house mix: classic, clean simple- all the while being technical and provocative.

Ardalan grooves between classic 90’s house music, deep house, tech house, and Dirtybird’s big booty bass style so fluidly, there is a seamless swing between his use of present day tracks and grooves that have been around for about 30 years.

Make sure to catch Ardalan at the Audiowaska stage curated by Music is Love, this weekend at Lucidity Festival!

Lucidity Countdown: Week 3 – DJ Hogg

March 26, 2014
Post Image

Congratulations, Ladies and Gents!

You’ve  made it through a few torturous months without a festival and now, you are only 2 weeks away from:

camping in one of the most beautiful counties in the nation, seeing all your loving friends, meeting new incredible people, learning, sharing, transforming and of course, dancing!

Our third mix is from Santa Barbara’s own, John Hogg A.K.A. DJ Hogg. Starting with a feel-good garage track, Hogg quickly transitions to straight house- utilizing tracks & remixes that are up to date, while maintaining a classic feel.

What is house traditionally to me? Soulful, sexy, effortless, groovy and consistently cool. Hogg maintains my long-standing perception of a favorite genre. This one hits the spot both nostalgically and currently.

I hope to catch ya’ll “walkin’ round like you’re bigger than Prince” at Lucidity 2014!

Lucidity festival is right around the corner!

To get you even more excited, we are releasing a mix each week for 4 weeks counting down the last month until we are back at one of our favorite camp grounds with our favorite people!

Alternating between house and bass, there will certainly be a mix you will love and play on your way over to Live Oak.

Mama likes it deep, and this one hits the spot.

Music is Love – Podcast E006 – feat. Jason Burns

January 28, 2014
Post Image

Somewhat solely a house head, Fall 2012 I started delving into the likes of what is now coined “future” bass. Coming up on Jason through my newest obsession, Druid Cloak, as he wonderfully remixed “Somebody” originally by Jason Burns & Symbols owner/producer, Kastle.

A first listen for Burns, I went one deeper and loved what I heard from him individually. Darker and sexier than the future pop sounds of beloved UK babes Disclosure & Bondax… even L.A based Kastle. Burns gives us a technical bassy house vibe that we can only call, “future” whatever. Lucky for us, Portland’s own, Jason gives out most of his tracks for free.

His rather eclectic style is seamlessly executed in an hour and a half mix. Jason comfortably swings between bass and house- some killer new tracks, originals and just plain goodies.

Always curious to hear fresh transitions of last year’s hit “Let’s Get Hot” by Breach & NEVER complaining about a French Fries “Yo Vogue” throw in- you will play this one out.
