Can you think of a DJ name better than HugLife? A couple years ago there was no HugLife, but Slink.

Formally known as DJ Slink, Heath Shinpaugh, A.K.A. HugLife was actually pushed into changing his name after traveling to Japan and finding out there was a younger Sliink who was aggressively trying to be the one and only. Heath was confused as he had been at it for about a decade at that point. Instead, he took the high road.

Despite the loss of his growing network of fans on his Slink pages- Heath gave it all up and renamed himself. Here is my take on the issue:

Firstly, HugLife is an absolutely perfect name for a DJ rounding up festivals around the nation and,  secondly, his demeanor toward the whole the Slink/Sliink “episode” is nothing short of badass.

Somewhat of a North American nomad, Heath- no matter the name he performs under, has made a impressive mark within the booming future bass and trap scene along the states and abroad.

So…What did we learn today? That Heath Shinpaugh is not only an extremely talented producer, but also one hell of a dude who just wants to help you have a good time.

Check out his newest track, a remix of Tech N9ne’s Fragile, feat. ¡MAYDAY! and Kendall Morgan. Live guitar and melodic vocals are a perfect juxtaposition for that HugLife bass.

The weekend was off to a good start- partially thanks to Insightful for releasing his newest EP Reminders. Extremely easy listening; it’s pretty difficult to not enjoy at least one song on his 6-track release.

Oakland producer, beat-master and part of the beloved Soulection crew- Matthew Suggett A.K.A. Insightful, displays his deeper understanding on musically conjoining the old and the new.

Electronically produced beats and future bass are extremely well-balanced with live instruments, sultry soul or hip-hop vocals.

Based in Austria,  producer B.Visible gave us Part I of his two-series EP entitled, Chaos via  Cosmonstro.

Blending genres- hip-hop, soul, jazz, funk, electronic and glitch- the guru uses turntables for scratching and samples along with live elements and some very pleasing synth work.

The 4 track EP is extremely refreshing and likable- you can absolutely listen to these tunes at anytime, anywhere and with anyone.

If you like RJD2 we are pretty sure you will enjoy B.Visible’s chilled out grooves.

Exposed to producing at the sweet young age of 13, UK’s Ryan Redican began as a dubstep and garage producer. By the age of 16, the self-taught teen had established a residency with Rough Hill events around London.

Expanding his knowledge of music production and mixing, Ryan attended courses to focus on production and sound engineering.

Now, living in Brighton, performing under the name Purple Velvet Curtains with a show on Nasty.FM- it all looks promising for P.V.C. in 2014.

An-Ten-Nae, Laura Low and Lemurr of LowRIDERz released a sexy little trap remix featuring Ava Raiin’s take on Bay Area’s Luniz “I Got 5 On It”

The original hip-hop track features the undeniably cool vocals of Michael Marshall a.k.a “Mike Meezy”, but Ava’s cover paired with the production skills of LowRIDERz pose for a grown-up, sultry 808 version of the track that high school kids were religiously singing before and after class up and down the West Coast.

Almost 20 years since the original’s release- we are all about the revival of this classic.
