Our Girl

August 25, 2015
Post Image

Mija, the Spanish term for “my girl” is a LA-based producer who blew up in Arizona before heading over to California.  Once hitting LA, she began working closely with her friends that comprise Major Lazer: world-renowned DJ’s and producers, Diplo and Skrillex.

Not sure if Mija is supposed to be Penny in the Major Lazer show, but guys, I think she is supposed to be Penny in the Major Lazer show. Anyway, this cute little green haired peanut, AKA Amber Giles, puts out a killer remix of a summertime favorite, “B2GETHER,” and she definitely keeps her own in a stream of (almost annoyingly) constant remixes of an already insanely executed original- the lyrics, vocals, production- UGHHH, so good!

Mija’s remix of the Major Lazer track doesn’t follow her normal stream of hard-hitting electro tracks and mixes, which can be a little heavy for some, that is why we were thrilled to hear her edit of B2GETHER- a bass-forwared electro-trap track that will refresh your undeniable love for the OG while maintaining the integrity of track.

Let’s B2GETHER:

That's So Fetch

August 19, 2015
Post Image

Let’s all remember one of the biggest (and one of my favorite) trolls of 2015 by Josh Pan, a collective of about 20 artists and producers. The dream team came together about a year ago and they are constantly releasing tracks made from different combinations of their young and brilliant producers. Mixing up the lot of creatives ensures a fresh track with a new approach every time.

On one of JP’s newest releases, “Fetch,” the New York-based collective joins up with MiL favorite, X & G (collective of only two, Xian and Gaszia based in SLC, Utah), the outcome is a perfect hybrid of the two. “Fetch” is clean and captivating, categorized as some on-point future bass that plays around with unique percussion and psychedelic samples that encourage you to bust out your weirdest dance moves and slither on the floor. We love it!

Big Wild Love

August 13, 2015

We love Big Wild and we are sure you will too. Falling even harder when we witnessed his set at LiB this year, Big Wild incorporates live percussion into some of the most thought-out tracks we have ever heard. Extremely detailed, comprised of unexpected and beautiful samples that steer far clear of the norm, his tracks take you for a wild ride into an awesome psychedelic, summertime playground where you can dance forever under the sun.

There has been an influx of artists releasing their take on Griz’s rendition of Talib Kweli’s “For the Love.” This one is undoubtedly one of our favorites- bouncy, positive, jazzy and full of color, Big Wild’s music will give you chills.

Just rounding up his set at Splash House in Palm Springs last week, Big Wild is currently on tour with electro-funk god, Griz. We project massive things for this spellbinding producer.

The Art Of Licking

August 7, 2015

Some growling bass lines and sexy vocals to get you through the weekend!

The “new house” sound, rather most popularized, is a dark, deep, rumbley bouncey house has been flooding clubs and events around the world this passed year or two. An extremely danceable house, stylized for a posh scene that is now associated with that classic 4×4 beat.

For this particular number Tough Art links up with DWU, both from Brazil, notoriously one of the sexiest countries. The duo freshens up that dark growling shit with with their utilization of unexpected, and somewhat Psychedelic,  synths.

We like how this one progresses, encouraging you to grind up to your neighbor and and lick their neck. Yum!

High & Deep

For those of you who missed the initial hype on the last An-Ten-Nae releases, “Feeling High” and “Oceans Deep,” we are going to blast them together as a 2-for-1!

Midway through a stellar year of transformative festivals, An-Ten-Nae continues to dazzle us, whether it is with his memorable party performances or one of his releases, personal or collaborative, the Bay Area artist doesn’t seem like he will be slowing down anytime soon.

Continuing to evolve as a solo artist, over the past few years An-Ten-Nae has slowly been revealing to us the multitude of faces that continue to keep us intrigue- crunk, urban, trippy, romantic and sexy, all integral in creating not only his sound, but the vibe that he instigates.

The last two releases integrate smooth, but full indie vocals, psychedelic little samples, and pops of anthem-like horns, both providing a heady listen, definitely worth the downloads.

Keep your head in the sky and your body on a mother fuckin’ cloud with “Feeling High”:

Fixation

July 21, 2015
Post Image

A beautiful track, “Fixed”, originally by future pop artist and Australian singer, George Maple, has been a favorite to remix since it’s release late last year. Maple has a way about her- her voice is so incredibly full, yet somewhat somber, enabling her songs to speak to you far outside of your standard pop vocals. George shares a story that relates to everyone who has been in some type or love, admiration, or fixation.

What we are really fixated on is fellow Australian, Tobiahs’ remix of the future love song. Taking you for a bit of a roller coaster, Tobiahs isolates Maple’s vocals, dropping electronic spurts of Flume inspired synth work that brighten up the future bass track, completely removing any grave sounds or connotation.

BBHMM

It goes without saying that Rhianna is one of the biggest divas of the 21st century, whether you are a fan or not, it is inevitable you will always be up to date with her tracks as nearly every one is featured on the radio. The pop princess’ latest has everyone chanting, “Bitch Better Have My Money!” whether a bitch owes you or not.

Like most of the mainstream shit in the US, the love for RiRi is strong across seas, inspiring Parisian producer FAB and English singer Alo Lee to link up for a tasty ass cover of BBHMM.

Compared the the trappy original, the cover categorizes itself along the indie-electronic spectrum, favoring a chilled out disco house beat that makes you seriously question your loyalty to the OG track.

Tchami Tsunami

July 8, 2015
Post Image

Ranging from garage to house to electronic- Tchami likes to flirt heavily with booming baselines that roll off your body when you dance.

The French producer and DJ, Tchami (Martin Bresso) has launched to the top extremely quickly. Three huge productions in 2013 enabled Bresso to make name for himself: 1) Producing “Applause,” “Do What U Want,” and “Sexxx Dreams,” from Lady Gaga’s 2013 album, Artpop. 2) Collaborating with fellow Parisian, DJ Snake in his production of the massive hit “Turn Down For What.” 3) Releasing his first EP, “Promesses” under well-known Fool’s Gold Records.

An expeditious and extremely dense resume began to form for Tchami and in return he immediately gained support from some of EDM’s biggest names, such as, Jack U, Diplo, AlunaGeorge and Mercer.avoring a remorseless approach much like his big name admirers, Tchami utilizes pop and R&B vocals to balance out his big future house sound that has proved to be a party favorite.

Tchami continues his roll in 2015, adding Santa Barbara to his upcoming repertoire, October 3rd at Earl Warren Show Grounds with Late Night Society and your friends at Music is Love.

Australian Invasion

Yahtzee! Came across a couple new Yahtzel tracks this morning and listened to them on repeat for an hour straight- both that new new under his mini release, “Art Room,” in addition to “If You Leave.”

Pro tip: if you notice a new artist you dig from Australia, follow them, stalk them, download all their shit- the absolute best shit is coming from down under right now and we personally can’t get enough, recognizing Australia as out go-to for new, progressive electronic music that is not only easy to listen to, but it’s progressive, complex, and interesting.

We love Yahtzel for his undeniable ability to incorporate not only a multitude of sounds, but his knack for turning relatively minimal synth-work into an enchanting and dubious story.

Check out his two releases on Art Room, “Super Grape” and “Plasm” in addition to one of my personal favorites by the 21 yr-old producer, “If You Leave”:
