December 4, 2014
Post Image
Two TBTs today- both, must haves in your library! We love all types of music, and today we get the best of 2 of our favorite EDM worlds: house and trap.

The only thing these two tracks have in common, is that they will interest you enough to press repeat;
oh . . . and these producers are both 20 years young.

First, a sonorous deep house groove by WKND’ & Niia with a future panache, followed by “Forbidden Fruit,” a nasty trap remix by Brighton’s Hucci.

Julien Mier Makes Hearts "Flutter"

December 2, 2014
Post Image

Netherlands-based producer, Julien Mier is no stranger to the art of experimenting with and colliding a variety of musical genres and styles. His recent remix of Bonobo’s “Flutter” is no exception. It’s safe to say that he just won our hearts over with this one.

To take on a Bonobo remix is no small task…the man has been a revered musical legend for over a decade and it’s nearly impossible to improve upon any of his immaculate productions. That being said, Julien Mier fearlessly and successfully took on this task and gave the world a magical reinterpretation of “Flutter.” Mier’s rendition of Bonobo’s track is a welcomed breath of fresh air, as it is both whimsical and playful, but produced extremely well.

Common Ground

December 2, 2014

Despite it’s means and time of production, house music is able to maintain a classic quality to it. Disco, jazz, soul, and funk- all of these timeless genres can be accredited to influencing the house we know and love today.

Guatemalan producer, E.Doza showcases house’s seductive side with his smoothed-out remix of Lauren Faith’s “Without You.”

Faith’s original track is already quite funky, yet E.Doza does add some future 4×4 flair that we welcome with open ears.

Mister McClenney

December 1, 2014
Post Image

Ease into the first day of December with Chris McClenney’s rework of Drake’s “Hold On We’re Going Home.”

Formally known as MisterMack, but still maintaining his a spot on both Soulection & FlowFi’s roster, the 21-year old’s take on the top-40 track demonstrates how often times, less is more.

Don’t lie to yourself, Drake is not difficult to like as an artist, but something could be said about the the hip-pop production surrounding his vocals. Maryland’s McClenney brings a more balanced sound than the original, incorporating acoustic piano along smooth R&B.

Missing MIsterMack? Look no further than McClenney.

The Widdler x G Jones – Diamonds EP

November 30, 2014
Post Image

Austin native, The Widdler and Santa Cruz born G Jones just teamed up to release their split EP, Diamonds. With just one short release, the duo have proven their credentials as the up-and-coming authorities for forward-thinking, swagged out bass beats. The Widdler and G Jones are both two incredibly talented DJs and producers and have managed to successfully capture and convey the very essence of today’s underground bass music attitude with their release, Diamonds.

Their free 3 -track EP starts off with their collaboration, “Diamonds on My Neck,” followed by “Tricks” by The Widdler and “Voltage Spike” by G Jones.

The joint track, “Diamonds on My Neck” has the perfect amount of low-end, bass heavy swag that invites listeners to embrace their inner badasses. Widdler’s solo contribute, “Tricks” experiments with the beauty of dark simplicity, while G Jone’s track, “Voltage Spike” amps up the party and induces some serious head-bobbing. Even though Diamonds is definitely worth buying, the guys have decided to give this one away for free!

Grab The Widdler and G Jones’s new split EP for free here and check out the title track below!
