Bad Boys

March 30, 2015
Post Image

Initially featured separately on our blog, and now as a collaboration, producers KRNE and Cavalier link-up from two of California’s bay cities, Oakland in the North and Long Beach in the South, for an in-your-face trap track sampling “Bad Girls,” originally by badass lyricist and vocalist, MIA.

We fell in love with Bay Area artist, KRNE instantly, with his synthy trap numbers gloating unexpected progressions and somewhat sinister twist and turns. For those who love constantly digging for music, KRNE is one to follow- consistently releasing new tracks, showing that more is more doesn’t mean that you have to stifle on production qualtiy.

Cavalier is relatively new to us, hitting our radar upon discovering he is an artist comprising the elusive “Josh Pan” project. Impressively young, Cavalier is another tenacious producer who is not shy to give out a steady stream of traptastic downloads for free.

Check out how these two impressive bass producers work together in “Hands Tied”:

Lucidity Countdown 2015: Week 3 – Truth

March 27, 2015
Post Image

As March quickly comes to a close, we find ourselves yet another week closer to Lucidity Festival’s fourth annual celebration, Kindred Quest. This year’s lineup invites festival-goers to experience an exceptional array of DJs, under a variety of different styles and genres, as they gather together for the weekend. With sets ranging from experimental modern bass artist Thriftworks and Dirtybird‘s Christian Martin to the acts featured on the previous weeks of our Lucidity Countdown, Pumpkin and Grensta, the music featured at this year’s Lucidity Festival is guaranteed to appease even the most avid music lover. With one more week gone by, we can add yet another highly anticipated act to Music is Love’s Lucidity Countdown series: Truth.

With a signature dialed back tempo, powerfully dark productions and profound underlying message, New Zealand bass duo, Truth, has taken the low-end dubstep game by force. Since rising to fame in 2007, Truth has perfected a unique style that bridges the gap between deep, heavy, dubstep and emotionally rich productions. As Truth continues to cut a clear pathway through the international music scene, they carry with them the exceptional skill of thunderous sound production, impeccable DJing abilities and an insightful philosophy on the nature of “truth.”

As the third featured act on our Lucidity Countdown, Truth delivers a seriously dark twist to our promo series. While seamlessly transitioning between some of bass music’s freshest tracks, timeless Truth productions (like “The Only Ones”, “Burglar” and “Devil’s Hands VIP”), and dubstep classics like Skream’s “Midnight Request Line,” Truth’s Lucidity Countdown mix perfectly demonstrates their dynamic influences and command over their signature heavy sound. With an infectious and understated style, Truth consistently excels in fusing the freshest elements of ominous, twisted, dubstep and seductively deep bass vibes. It’s safe to say that Truth will be attracting only the most diehard dub fans to their set at Lucidity’s Nomads’ stage.

Catch Truth Sunday evening, April 12th at Lucidity Festival 2015, Kindred Quest, and grab tickets here!

Up All Night W/ X&G

March 25, 2015
Post Image

If you read our write-up linked to our exclusive mix with with SLC duo, Xian and Gaszia AKA X&G, you should have been waiting on the edge of your seat for their new tracks they projected to be released early on in 2015.

Point blank: we loved what X&G delivered and have been wanting more. The mix was completely seamless and filled with tracks that you wanted to Shazam and download immediately, but couldn’t, because most of them were unreleased X&G originals; much like this future bass original X&G wonder, “4AM.” Going to get really personal, this straight up is my favorite track on their Music is Love mix, and really, is there no better feeling then finding out your favorite track on the mix is actually an original by it’s creator? If you can both successfully DJ AND produce banging-ass originals, your on top in my book.

Released through TrapDoor Records, this one will get you in the f*cking mood:

Lucidity Countdown 2015: Week 2 – Grensta

March 20, 2015
Post Image

Excitement is buzzing around all of us here at Music is Love as we approach the last three weeks counting down to Lucidity Festival, 2015, Kindred Quest hosted in the hills above Santa Barbara, CA.

As we approach April 10th, make sure you are becoming familiar with the line-up so you don’t miss out on any of your favorite artists! With three amazing stages for you to dance at all weekend (Alive, Lucid, and Nomads’), there is absolutely something for everyone!

We are continuing our promotional series with another Lucidity ’15 promo mix. Our second mix features the rhythmic sounds of Bay Area house producer/DJ, Grensta, as he takes you for one groovy-ass journey through his seamless mix which encompasses a wide-range of rhythmic house sub genres.

Perfect for pre-partying, Grensta’s mix encourages you to shake your groove thang! Initiating his mix with Latin-inspired house, Grensta progresses to deep house, funk, tech, and soul, to nostalgic, bouncy house.

From a young age, Grensta has taken an active interest in displaying himself creatively through music. From playing classical instruments when he was younger, to interning at Om Records, to working at Guitar Center to ensure he has the best gear, the young producer loves music and takes every opportunity he can to be fully submersed in it.

Being a Half Moon Bay local allowed Grensta to become well-aquainted with the San Francisco Bay Area community; a place near home where he, and many artists, find inspiration through the the eclectic places and people. Only beginning to produce five years ago, Grensta has established his presence in the Bay and surrounding Northern California area by delivering booty shaken’ house sets that are as fun to dance, as they are to listen to. Recently winning Insomniac’s “Discovery Project,” you can expect to see Grensta’s name at big events in 2015.

Catch Grensta at the Nomads’ stage Friday evening, and grab tickets for Lucidity 2015 Kindred Quest, here!

2 I's in Kiings

March 19, 2015
Post Image

This Thursday’s throwback track is brought to you by production duo, Kiings. Consisting of Sean Foran & Chris Siegel, the Wisconsin boys focus on future and electronic soul music.

Today, we are taking you all the way back to their first track on their SoundCloud page entitled, “Explain Myself.” Though the track is a couple years old, the 2 Kiings stay consistent with their current style, evoking a romantic feeling within their music by featuring positively beautiful vocals over playful, but never overpowering, bass-fowrard electronica.

We’ll let the track do the rest of the talking:
